Nursery at St Felix
St Felix Nursery welcomes children from the term after they turn three.
School Day Nursery- 8.45 – 11.45 / 12.15 – 3.15
The Foundation stage, Nursery and Reception, are part of the main school but have their own entrance and play areas. This means that the very youngest of children quickly become part of our school but feel safe and happy in their stimulating and busy classrooms.
Pupils can attend for 15 or 30 hours and the pattern of attendance is agreed with the admin team in advance.
Please note that if you qualify for free 30 hours childcare, you need to apply for your code before the end of the term before your child starts and this must be confirmed to the school so that we can check that everything is in order. You can check if you qualify by going to https://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare. For those to whom this applies, it would assist us if you could provide information below to enable us to double-check your entitlement.
If you are funding the hours yourselves, we charge £4.50 an hour. Payments are set up on our ParentMail system at the beginning of each term.
Children attending the morning and afternoon session will need to stay for our lunchtime club at an additional cost to parents of £1 per day and must bring a packed lunch.
Our Foundation Stage Curriculum
There are seven areas of learning within the Foundation Stage Curriculum and these are based on the ‘Early Learning Goals’ which sets out the expectations for the Early Years Curriculum. At St Felix, the Primary Knowledge Curriculum runs from Nursery to Y6.
It is very important that children learn and explore their world through play and different experiences, at home, at school and the world beyond.
The Start of the School Day
At the start of the day both Nursery and Reception children wait with their parents/carers at the green gate at the entrance to the outside area. At 8.45 all Early Years Foundation Stage staff come to open the gate and accompany all children up the slope and into their classrooms.
The children will be encouraged to become independent with their personal belongings. The children register themselves by putting their name on a board. Shortly after the children arrive we gather on the carpet for the register. The children are expected to sit quietly for this.
We say a prayer, listen to interesting things that people have to say and talk about the session's activities.
Collection of Children
Please arrive promptly to collect your child at the end of each session.
We also need to know if someone other than the usual parent / carer will be collecting your child, as you will understand that we cannot let any child leave our care with somebody who is unfamiliar/unknown to us and without your permission.
If you have a regular relative/childminder who picks up your child please inform us in writing at the start of term.

We would remind you that an offer of a nursery place does not guarantee a full time place in our school for the Reception Year onwards. A further application will need to be made in the Autumn Term and you will be sent details of how to apply.
